As a woman of a certain age, I know my limitations.   When the waiter at my favorite restaurant smiles and asks me if there is anything else I need, I know he is trying to earn a better tip not my phone number. When my young co-worker shows up in a cute mini skirt that I'd give my eye teeth to wear, I know that day has passed. I am not a crazy or impulsive woman, which leads me to this question.  What would make a sane woman of a certain age agree to participate in the warrior dash?

For those of you who don't know, the warrior dash is a race of about 3.8 miles.  That doesn't sound too bad, does it?  Ahh, but did I tell you it's run in mostly mud? What about all of the obstacles, such as a tire course, mud pond , and a fire pit you have to jump?  And that's just the beginning. Doesn't that sound crazy inspiring?

So, for approximately the next ten weeks, I will be in  a cycle of dieting, praying and working out with a heavy emphasis on the praying portion of the cycle.

I've decided to face this head on. I'm taking all precautionary measures a responsible person should take. I'm writing a will, checking to make sure my insurance policies are up to date, and giving my niece my favorite pair of earrings.  I hope she remembers me fondly.

And I want to share this, in my opinion, important piece of advice.  Never drink several bottles of wine with a group of women who are all turning 40 this year.  It will not end well.

By the way, if you want to throw a prayer my way,  it can't hurt.

  1. WOWW that sounds intense! Wine and women is a lethal combination :P. Good luck with that commitment. I will keep you in my prayers. Make sure you post pics of your progress!
